Here is the playthrough of Equinox done live on IGTV. This is only the Final Dungeon and Boss because I was unable to recording the whole game due to space.

-Its probably been just long enough since I beat the prequel 'Solstice' on NES two months back, to have allowed the memory bank to sugarcoat the frustration factor of the game with larger helpings of its considerably sweet visuals & aesthetics. Once again Imagineer have produced a wonderfully appealing puzzle adventure that takes care to follow in the well placed footprints of its predecessor while proving brave enough to trailblaze in new directions.

Instead of confining the player to beating the game with just one life, a major improvement now boasts an autosave feature given whenever entering/exiting a dungeon. This greatly reduces much of the anxiety of the first, especially in the later dungeons when a SAVE spell can actually be learnt.

While saving is greatly appreciated, it's also a necessity. This is a much longer game than before, boasting 8 dungeons connected with the trademark SNES 'mode 7 graphic' overworld map and some truly beautiful & tranquil music to accompany it.

Tho puzzle elements remain as challenging as before, some of the technical movement requirements have taken a considerable steroid boost. Gone is the iconic 'block-jumping' puzzles of Solstice replaced with far more annoying sliding/falling & disappearing blocks. Gone too is a dependence on magic to circumvent some of the more challenging puzzles, as this time magic has no effect on inanimate objects (except REVEAL which is useless compared with Solstice!)

One area that remains just as tantrum inducing is the isometric view. Whereas hardware limitations in the NES likely rendered lack of shadow a requirement, here it's exclusion is clearly intentional, intended to invite episodes of Hulk like player rageouts due to the impossible task of calculating platform geography without endless trial & error through hurling yourself into spikes. It does little to help the stigma often attached to isometric gaming!

Each dungeon ends with a boss encounter that offers a nice diversity to the gameplay and while most prove little more than distractions, I spent close to an hour grinding away at the final boss!

Overall a great game that remains a considerable challenge today.
