#639 Ehrgeiz (ARC) Bosses (2/3): Tifa playthrough.
0A playthrough of the hidden boss Tifa Lockhart/Summoner in Dreamfactory/Square's Ehrgeiz for the arcade.
Tifa is the effective deuteragonist of FF7, having been a huge part in Cloud's life since they were growing up together in Nibelheim. She's easily one of the best characters in the game, working as both a good spell-caster and physical fighter (namely due to being able to link most of her limit breaks together), and is a pretty great addition on any team.
Here, however, I found her a bit lacking. Her throws seem too slow to come out, her special moves are rather lacking, and her combos to me at least seemed to always be interrupted. As I said with the Cloud video, this is a game where cheap moves typically tend to win, and in a game where a character can run freely and fire a gun with the push of a button, it can get quite cheap and tedious quite quickly. Tifa's special button, the one which allows Cloud to use his sword, allows her to use a fireball attack. This move isn't dramatically effectively, but if charged up will launch two homing fireballs which hit successively. This, coupled with her running triple-kick move, which is essentially partial to the same hit and run tactics as the majority of the characters. Despite that though, she seemed to have some trouble even landing some of these. All in all, I didn't find her all too impressive, but like Cloud she makes for a great hidden boss and hidden character. It's Tifa Lockhart in a fighting game, so you might as well try her out regardless.
