#647 Ehrgeiz (PS1) Exclusive Character: Sephiroth playthrough.
A playthrough of the exclusive character Sephiroth in the PS1 port of Ehrgeiz.
Although I wouldn't usually cover a regular exclusive character, I'll make some exceptions in some places, particularly when it's appropriate. And, well, not covering Sephiroth would have been criminal, considering how central he was to FF7 on the whole.
Sephiroth was the main antagonist of FF7 and is a pretty iconic staple of the franchise, and along with Darth Maul a few years later taught us that if you have an orchestral theme, you know shit is about to go down. He was added as a regular character to Ehrgeiz in this port, and unsurprising to many is quite similar in his moveset to Cloud, which will make sense if you've played through FF7 itself. He has Cloud's buster-sword strikes and I think quite similar combos, as well as a somewhat hilarious "nothin' personnel kid" attack where he hits the opponent with the handle of his sword and then stabs them while they're on the ground. A bit derivative on the whole, at least from what I could tell, but still a competent character in a competent fighting game. Lastly, he's the only FF7 character to have an ending, which is pretty much just a mismatch of CGI scenes from FF7 along with One-Winged Angel playing over it. It was a great surprise when I was playing through as him, I have to say. And, wait. Did this game accidentally invent the AMV? I'll leave that up to you to decide.
That finishes up Ehrgeiz, finally. Now, it's time to buckle up, as I look to cover the entirety of the Tekken series, all the way from 1 to 7.
