A Way Out | Full Game Walkthrough | No Commentary
Games that revolve around Co-Op have always had a special place in my heart and I am always happy when a new release comes out that emphasizes on this. Recently Split Fiction was released and the same developer was responsible for A Way Out many years ago.
I remember playing this way back in the day and recently me and my good buddy Wuzi sat down and played through this prison escape adventure.
The game can only be played with two people, but what is cool is that they have a system where only one person needs to purchase the game in order to play with both online. That is very generous and the online experience was also great for the most part despite us being in two different continents.
We follow the story of Vincent and Leo who are stuck in jail and now need to come up with a plan to escape. We do this by solving various puzzles that require us to work together. It goes further than just finding a simple key as the game presents many different scenarios that bring variety to the gameplay.
One time a player needs to be on the lookout and distract the guards while the other is carving the stone wall away in his cell. Then another time a player needs to enter a restricted location while the other needs to rile up prisoners. The game always makes sure that the gameplay and things you do are varied for both players. Leo definitely is more focused on action, but both players get a turn where they drive and shoot from a vehicle for example.
There actually is some replay value as well as different scenes can play out quite different depending on the choices you make.
Probably the weakest part of the game is the ending as I saw the twist coming from afar even back when I played this the first time. And though the many minigames in here are fun, they also feel a bit random in the second half of the game.
Now I have never played It Takes Two and I heard that it is the best co-op game ever made, so I cannot wait to grab a drink again and go on an adevnture with my pal.
