The Afghan police and Army may be taking the lead on patrols and security, but now Afghan engineers are also ready to take the plunge.

The Helmand canal network was constructed in the 1960s but for more than 40 years its maintenance was neglected.

The restoration of the system was vital and British Army Engineers have been showing the Afghans how it can be done.
