A look at an African video game that mixes the game play of the Legend of Zelda with the aesthetics of African cultures.

In this unique African fantasy video game you experience the tale of the eccentric witch Lanoa. You will travel with her across the land of Nsala to save her family and others who were taken by powerful Mashetani spirits. There are many African-inspired locales in this game, including a Dogon style village, a Benin palace, Great Zimbabwe-themed ruins, and more.

Not only is Lanoa one of the very rare Black main characters in video game history but she is also one of the few Black women in video games as well.

To save her family and her people, use Lanoa's evasive skills and powerful magic to make her way past hordes of Mashetani in this epic adventure game.

Video games set in Africa are few and far between, but they do exist and I hope to show you even more African games in the future.

Besides the Legend of Zelda series, other gamin influences include:
the Final Fantasy series, Star Tropics for the NES, the Metal Gear Solid series, Illusion of Gaia for the SNES, and other classic video games as well.
