This is APE OUT, an interesting little Unity title that could be best described as "Hotline Miami with an ape". It's a very simple game, but is one that's very satisfying due to its dynamic soundtrack and rapid bloodshed. I discovered this game through pure chance, as I watched someone on Youtube play it and I faintly heard some binaural audio effects. Sure enough, I found a note from the developer (linked below) that confirmed APE OUT has HRTF support. A glance at the "plugins" folder reveals audiopluginresonanceaudio.dll, confirming APE OUT as using Google's underpowered Resonance Audio plugin.
Getting this to run with HRTF was quite a hassle, as I had to actually turn OFF the "Headphones Mode" in order to get it working. Yeah, really. The effect is about as inconspicuous as crossfeed and doesn't really provide the level of positional audio of something like GeneShift or Zombie Driver HD. In fact, it's quite glitchy and often plays sounds in the wrong channel (2:24, 3:10). Still, it's nice to see an indie dev who thinks about the tiny 3D Game Audio community once in a while.
