It's been 15 years since the original release of Painkiller, and players now have a multitude of options for immersive spatialized audio. This video demonstrates all of them INCLUDING Aureal A3D, thanks to MVP TheParrotPapa. Note that Painkiller is basically unplayable with Aureal A3D on Windows 98, as A3D causes severe framerate drops when more than a few enemies are active.
Interestingly enough, Painkiller seems to have the same "distorted high-pitched audio" glitch that Grand Theft Auto 3 has when Miles 2D Fast Positional Audio is used.
