About this video: This video is an in-depth review of Apex Minecraft Hosting. Now, before we get into this, I want to discuss the elephant in the room. We have, for a very long time, had a partnership with Apex Minecraft Hosting, and while I have tried my best to review Apex fairly, this is something I wanted to disclose. We will also have reviews of other server hosts coming in the next few weeks and months. They all be compared on the same categories listed here.
The first category we are going to be looking at is ease of use. This encompasses a few things. First is the ease of setting up the server. When it comes to Apex, setting up your server can be done in under 5 minutes, and they support all of the most popular modpacks from all of the launchers. You can easily setup Paper servers if you want to run plugins, and they even allow you to run BungeeCord servers with ease.
The second part of ease of use comes after you have your Minecraft server setup. How easy is Apex Minecraft Hosting to manage a server. Well, Apex has a custom version of the Multicraft control panel. It makes finding the console, stopping and restart your server, changing versions, and even installing plugins, access logs, etc. very easy. The FTP on Apex’s control panel is the best I’ve see with a host allowing you to do everything you can do with a FTP client like Filezilla.
In the ease of use category, Apex scores a perfect 5/5 for their simple setup and well laid out control panel.
Our next category is support and user guides. Apex Minecraft Hosting has an in-depth user guide setup with guides right in their custom control panel. They also have amazing support that responds within a minute to help you out, and solve any issues you have. If there is one area where Apex is truly incredible, it is support. They get an easy 5/5 here.
Another area that you need to look when hosting a server is mod pack support, and at Apex, they take modpack support very seriously. They have one-click setup of over 130 modpacks at the time I’m recording this video. However, more modpacks are added any time they gain popularity. This is such an important topic for Apex, that they have team members to keeping modpacks up to date and working. This is why new popular modpacks are added so quickly.
In regards to price, at Apex, you are going to be paying $5.99/month for a 1GB Apex server. However, you do get a discount per GB as you purchase more. Most people will have the best luck with a 4GB server which is $19.99/month. This will allow you to run most modpacks lag free with around 10 players. This pricing is about standard from what I’ve seen in the industry.
In closing, we are going to give Apex 4.75 pickaxes out of 5. What takes away from Apex is really just the hardware openness, and while Apex doesn’t oversell, and lag has never been an issue for us, we do wish you could see the exact hardware your box had.
Should you get a server with Apex Minecraft Hosting? In our opinion, yes you should. We have used Apex for years, and for a bit, actually tried to switch away from them. After less than 3 months, we went running back to Apex Minecraft Hosting because of their incredible support, really go try it, and the quality of their hardware. We’ve never had lag at Apex that is caused by Apex. Lag on our servers has always been caused by plugins or user (our own) error.
