The first Army Germany Motorbike championship not classified as a military training exercise has taken place at Elmpt on the Dutch border. Motorcycling is still a recognised Army sport but it means that most riders at events now have to pay for their own bikes. When the annual Spear Ride Army Germany Motorbike Championship was a military exercise, travel and accommodation were laid on and the Army provided the bikes.
