Exercise Golden Arrow involved a mini submarine which can rescue trapped submariners hundreds of metres below the sea. The Nato Submarine Rescue System -- a joint British, French and Norwegian venture -- is based at Faslane in Scotland, but can deploy to anywhere in the world within 72 hours.
