Time for yet another sudden gameplay change! This time, its a tribute to Sega's own Space Harrier. Much like Chapter 8, which is itself a tribute to Afterburner, this stage has a remix of the Space Harrier theme and mimicks its gameplay. Platinum in general are fond of shoot 'em up sequences in games....but honestly? I can't say they're usually very good. There's often SOMETHING going on with it that holds it back from being fun.

For this section, there's a lot of it. The dodge is disorientating as all hell, having to line up your missile with an enemy obscures them, so it can be hard to tell if they're firing on you and overall I find the stage goes on a little too long. Its still fun though!

There's other things to talk about though....like Luka creeping on Bayo! Or how the camera just THRUSTS itself into her bust when it comes time for a reaction shot! Man, these Angels REALLY don't want Bayo to get to that tower, do they?

And of course we have some bosses...including more knock-off Cardinal Virtues! That last one is a real pain, I think. You can't build magic up on it, so that's what the constant influx of Decorations are for, I guess....but even then the missiles seem kinda..finicky? Maybe I'm just bad a shoot 'em ups...

To be honest though, I'm more annoyed that this sequence precedes one of the best boss fights in the game. I'd love to just go RIGHT to the boss, but if I ever want to replay it I have to go through all this first....Had it been shorter, I'd have less problems with it but it is what it is. You'll see that boss in the next part, of course. Yay for natural cut-off points!
