Best GoPro Hero 8 Black Vlogging Setup - RODE VideoMic Pro+ Ulanzi G8-5 GoPro Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter
Following on from my video, Best GoPro Vlogging Setup, where I put together a GoPro vlogging rig consisting of the GoPro Hero 8 Black with the Ulanzi G8-5 vlogging case and the original GoPro Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter for connecting external microphones to the GoPro Hero 8 Black. I said during that video that I'd revisit some of the microphones that I'd already tested and re-do them again with this, my final and best GoPro vlogging setup until the next GoPro action camera is released.
Having already paired the RODE VideoMicro with this vlogging setup it's time for this setup to be used with the RODE VideoMic Pro+
In this video I'm using the GoPro Mic Adapter in line level mode with the RODE VieoMic Pro+ set to its =20db boosted gain mode. This ensures that you don't effect the mic recording with the GoPro's dynamics processing of AGC and limiting, which gives you a much cleaner recording on the GoPro that you can then raise up in level. This method is also the same for the GoPro Mic Adapter when it's used with the Hero 7, Hero 6 and Hero 5 Blacks and also works with the Hero 8 Black and Media Mod combination.
Here's a link to the video that I mention in this one about the settings in the menu for the GoPro for the microphone and line level inputs for the Media Mod and GoPro Pro 3.5mm Mic Adapter, remember, both these audio/mic input options are controlled the same way from what ever Heroes they are attached to.
