Genmel Arena battle against the trickster Emitai and his two hooligan sidekicks. Magic is banned here, which means no transforming Ryu (which would help his survival a little bit but not a whole lot) or casting Protect. The latter is a bummer as tanking two Golems at once can be difficult.

Emitai and Golems all have 10 speed, which means 21 speed is all that's needed to EX-turn in this fight. Momo can accomplish this with Speed Boots and some lighter, less defensive equipment, but I want her to be able to take as many hits as possible. In Defensive formation and with the best equips, she can take two attacks with ease.

The same cannot be said about Ryu and Nina however. These scrubs die to two hits (whatever they may be - regular physical blows or Spirit Blast), and Ryu is sometimes OHKO'd, so it's best for him to just keep guarding.

Nina gets the Speed Boots instead and she easily outspeeds the Golems, falling short of the EX-turn (she would be getting OHKO'd too, were she to equip the lighter armour). This makes her a good priority healer in this fight, using herbs and Black Bass (latter when multiple allies have been wounded) to keep the party in good condition.

Ryu dodges one attack thanks to D'lonzo apprenticeship one one turn, so I needn't revive anyone.

There are generally two ways to go about this battle - either KO a Golem or KO Emitai, who is guarding. Taking a Golem down eases up the demands on healing and makes survival easier, whereas killing Emitai, while requiring more time to be accomplished, causes Golems to go haywire and attack each other until one is dead.

Since I thought I might as well learn Spirit Blast (it's useless frankly) on this playthrough, I go for the latter and focus Momo's fire on Emitai at the start. Spirit Blast is easy to learn assuming the Golems are healthy enough - they take turns using it on odd/even turns, so you can always have all three units attempt to Learn the move by examining the right Golem. On normal runs, it's probably just useful for Lava Man level grinding.

A more offensive strat can be employed by giving Momo an EX-turn via Speed Boots and having her spam Blitz/Double Blow/Sirocco item magic, but it's significantly less reliable and foregoes Spirit Blast.
