The point-of-no-return battles before the game's final boss; all five of them. Since the first map is the only non-assassination map, it takes about half the video, but it's not the hardest fight shown here - the Balk II fight definitely is.

The space is too limited so I guess I'll put the RNG classes in the comments section instead. You can see what classes I got in pre-battle menus, regardless.

00:00 Orbonne Rout

Got two Archers, which is fairly bad luck. Ended up turning my Geomancer into a Chantage Summon caster, and that was easily the strongest unit in the party. She didn't really need Chantage much though, but you never know what can happen during a fight. I tried to hold chokepoints here, heal my units so that I have a number advantage over the enemy and cover as much ground with a Ramuh casting as possible. Speed Save on attacks withstood really stacks over time, which is nice. If it hadn't been for that crit towards the end, I think I wouldn't have lost a single unit here. That must be pretty good.

09:04 Rofel

He only breaks your equipment if you occupy the upper-left square of the party formation. Otherwise, with the right speed setup, you can bait him to try casting Petrify/Silence on your units and just gang up on him with Life Drain and other attacks. A Wizard's spell (whichever one he casts) can be redirected unto Rofel as well, and I have Ramza punch him midcharge because Rofel will sometimes go for Silence on Ramza, making Demi uncastable.

11:18 Kletian

The easiest one. The default position leaves Ramza untargetable by the Ninja throws, and Kletian will charge a spell such as Holy on either Ramza himself or one of his friends (Ryu the Wizard in this case). Ramza got the Ninja class, so he can equip Martial Arts and just double-punch Kletian for a OHKO - not even necessary to maximise PA because the attack is so strong!

12:19 Balk II

By far the hardest fight in this video, and one of the run's highlights. I had no Rubber Shoes, only 2 White Robes and 1 Flame Shield, so the strategy that has you take no damage from everything that isn't a monster physical attack couldn't be used here. Really took a lot of time to figure out a semi-reliable strat and see it succeed.

Balk is hard to hit, not to mention durable because of the innate increases to both kinds of defence. Life Drains are fairly inaccurate, as is Ramza's Demi. I face hit rates from 55 to 68 here, which isn't very hot at all. His monsters also approach very quickly, often able to cast their destructive magic on the 2nd turn - this bit requires some manipulation to force them to go in another direction than what I want.

My equipment setup is highly complex and precise (for what I had to choose from anyway), since every little bit of it is carefully selected to do something on the field at a very specific moment in time - not a moment sooner or later - and also to affect enemy behaviour to arrange one basic scenario: bait Balk to move in, block his way back (the unit holding the chokepoint mustn't die at all costs) and go wild with fractional damage spells. At one point, one of the monsters is highly likely to land a triple spell on Balk and the unit blocking the chokepoint, likely killing the unit doing this but hopefully helping to cripple Balk in the process. If the characters have different stats, equipment and are on different squares, this has a 0% chance of happening, so I needed to get it down with perfect precision.

The strategy is pretty reliable; maybe 60% or so? Good enough for this challenge.

15:10 Hashmalum

This is the last Lucavi battle, so it's yet another fight against a powerful, healthy and fast foe. I give a random assortment of Auto-Float boots, White Robes and such like things so that Hashmalum goes for the weaker Tornado - and when my units more or less recover, I spread them around so that his huge area of effect spells don't kill the whole party. 4 Life Drains/Demis from Ramza is all that's needed to win this, so it's a short yet intense battle.

All that's left is Altima now!
