Battle against Dycedarg / Adramelk in this video. It's technically a double-boss battle, with Life Draining still being an effective strategy but my units lacking the MP to cast it enough times - Hi-Ether is taught to both Lenneth and Mitsuru, both of them getting the Item command as secondary.
The RNG gave me these classes:
16 Ramza - Thief (again)
15 Crono - Mediator
13 Lenneth - Oracle
15 Mitsuru - Squire
13 Ryu - Knight
Not any good at all... However, the Knight can wield the Excalibur which is worthwhile only for the auto-Haste effect here. The Oracle gets Life Drain automatically, so I can safely give her Item so that she can restore MP to her and others (in this case, just the Knight).
Getting high MP via equipment on Life Drain users is a must because lv. 1 MP is too low. This is mostly a problem for Ryu the Knight, who gets inferior equipment as a result.
Ramza gets Thief, but since he has Scream it hardly even matters what his abilities are anymore. Equip Bracer and other things to improve PA, ensure HP is high enough and use Scream while travelling from one place to another. Ramza deals less damage with 100 Brave and Scream-boosted PA, but at least it's entirely accurate. Good for the Adra portion of the fight.
The Mediator can be seen as a solid class, but there's Worst compat between him and Dycedarg (in human form) so gun damage is absurdly low. When Adra enters the stage, his Zodiac sign changes, it seems (or is it some innate properties?), as the gun damage slightly improves, but it's still got nothing on Life Drain and Ramza's fists.
When the fight starts, Dycedarg's AI notices Zalbag is a lot sturdier than my lv. 1 units and will aim a Lightning Stab at my folks instead. Ramza is KO'd, always, so an accurate equipment setup needs to be made so that Ramza can be revived before his CT reaches 100 so that he can quickly start accumulating Screams for high attack and speed stats once he can target Adra at pointblank range.
One of the other folks will also fall to that first Lightning Stab. Of course, giving the Oracle a Chantage is the best way to optimise my resources and remove the hurt from the attack.
Spreading units around is a must to keep the party alive from Lightning Stab's AoE, but once Adra comes around, his Summons have such huge range that it becomes necessary to have them stand on terrain of drastically different height so that they all don't die to a single innately Short Charged summon along the lines of Odin or Bahamut.
I was successful in minimising the damage from summons here, with my Squire surviving an Odin (I tried to Yell her so that she would get an early turn in and escape before it charges in, but since I couldn't see Adra's CT I had no way of telling if I could truly escape on time) and the Oracle absorbing it since Chantage makes her deaths fruitless for the opposition.
I bought 2 Thief Hats before this fight. More would be good, but money is a problem even if I sell all the stuff I'm unlikely to find any use for later on.
