(C&C SHWSP Mod #1) Tank General Hard Full Challenge (Backlog 8)
Uhhh, does anyone have a better way to write this title, cause it's Command and Conquer: Generals: Zero Hour: Shockwave Mod, Shockwave Singleplayer Experience Add-on Tank General Full Challenge, so I might be a little cooked on the title.
Maybe skip this one, I'm just getting my bearings again in the challenges and figuring out what doesn't work anymore from the normal Shockwave mod. Experimenting with some commentary with my subpar headset microphone, although I'm finding it's a little hard to talk about other things while playing an RTS. I'm also utilizing this to test out various settings for recording and see what works and doesn't work for future videos.
Anyways, going through all the Generals challenges on hard for this mod and sub mod, starting with what I think are the hardest ones first. I'll bump it up to 60 fps again, I still had my old NFS settings when I recorded the first section of this, whoops!
This is the raw footage, and while I could do every level individually optimized in separate videos at some point, I do have a pretty darn big backlog to get through. Gave up pretty quickly on the 1 SW rule because I'm not waiting around 4 minutes for an artillery strike or other special power to create an opening and wasting collective hours of all our lives.
No idea what started happening with the glitchy audio in some parts.
'General' Notes:
1. Armor: Seems like 4 Overlords with a little micro is enough, and you can always add more units during the push since they're slow.
2. Air: Rough, definitely would wait until general level 5 for the EMP, then coordinate the EMP on the defensive planes after destroying his strategy center with artillery/a nuke, and push while they're down, using infantry to soak up the plane shots.
3. Superweapons: Just go mass nukes, honestly. It's not worth the hassle to micro overpriced Kwai infantry to deal with EMPs for your tank blob when he has no artillery to break the front
4. Stealth: In hindsight, probably could just make 3 overlords and an ecm or two and push the front instead of what I did here, though you'd have to micro a little
5. Laser: Since Kwai doesn't have bunker helixes, it's just better to split 3 dozers at the start to build funds, then get an EMP, and nuke/artillery to open the front to tank blob in, not much Townes can do to stop it
6. Demo: If you deal with the Topol launchers and take out his Palace, you can just tank blob anywhere with detection for the Demo Traps, though It's kind of a hassle dealing with his constant rebuilding.
7. Nuke: After experimenting a bit, Black Lotus can pretty much take out almost every single Nuke by herself if there are no helixes around, then you can do whatever, though I'd recommend SW/Gen powers and Razor bombers to clean up since a single nuke cannon from him will just destroy any tank blob if you don't micro.
8. Infantry: Learned a valuable lesson here, and that's Kwai's advanced ecm tanks can disable buildings(though they don't say). Still can't disable the bunkers though, so you still need to use air units, SWs or Gen powers to take those out, but there's not much that can stop the tank blob outside of those.
9. Toxin: Can honestly just Overlord through the top left and win, they have their own detection. Palace is priority target so you don't have to deal with Thrax's Scourges on defense and have to micro 3 spots at once.
10. Salvage: Played this too safe, you basically get infinity funds and could just push through any side with a tank blob and detection.
11. Special Weapons: Same as all other generals, just save up enough SWs and Gen Powers to take out all 3 command centers and dozers at once so you don't have to deal with her Gen Powers, and rebuilding everything(idk what causes the Generals challenge to be harder or not in some scenariors. Sometimes she uses her Gen Powers and other times not. Sometimes she rebuilds all dozers from the start, other times only 1)
