(CCPlays) Cold Waters (Dot Mod): Seawolf vs Chinese Wolfpack and Fleet (Custom Mission)
One of the fun things with dotMod with Cold Waters you can make your own scenarios. And here, I'd like to create something inspired by a novel: Michael DiMercurio's Attack of the Seawolf. I said inspired by, since that Seawolf has more special weapons than we have here.
Mission editor setup: Group 1 of 8-10 Chinese subs (except the Xia SSBN) and Group 2 of 3-5 Chinese escorts (DDs and FFs), both aggressive. We're looking at at 11-15 enemies...
------
Immediately went deep as I did enable helos and anti-sub patrols this time. And quickly we picked up a LOT of contacts to south and southwest. We quickly identified 2 x Romeo to south, then Luhu, 2 x Jianghu3 to southeast, then 2 x Romeo to east, then intermitent contact to south of Kilo Improved, and unidentified, and more.
I was heading west, then decided I should head east, then shoot torpedo to southwest, then dogleg back southeast.
So I dove 488m depth, which is just above the 500m launch limit to the Mk 48s. fire the decoy southwest (turns out it's not needed), then volleyed all 7 torpedoes to southwest for about 4km, then dogleg southeast.
By this time, we've also picked up a Ming, a Song, and an extra Romeo to southeast.
The torpedoes continued, and I try to NOT guide them, as if they missed one enemy they will likely pick up another one easily. As they hit, I reload quickly and shoot another set.
A Romeo died first, which inspired everybody else to start dodging. A Ming died next, along with a Jianghu3. I am reloading the now empty tubes as fast as the crew can do them. In fact, more than a few of the subs are panicking, and some are just shooting at shadows with panic snapshots in multiple directions..
An Improved Kilo died to the south, even as to my southeast, some of the torpedoes are clearly locking onto other Chinese subs. One Romeo died this way.
Another salvo went out for all the leakers: a Romeo to southeast, 2 escorts to southeast, and 1 sub to south, and rather anti-climactic, all four torpedoes found their way to their targets. For the final kill, the range did a huge fluctuation, but the torpedo got there at the end.
Final tally: 11 out of 11 killed. Clean sweep!
