Create ELDEN RING in Unity ► EP. 27 DIRECTIONAL BASED DAMAGE ANIMATION
In this video we create the logic to play a directional based damage animation during our take damage effect. What is directional based damage? Basically, the animation system will select a damage animation that moves you in the direction of the attack. For example, if your character is hit from a character directly in front of themselves, they will be knocked backwards.
We also create functionality to select a random animation from a list, giving us the option to include multiple versions of each direction damage type. For example, you could have 3 forward damage animations and you would select a random animation each time the forward damage sequence is played.
Lastly, we make it so if desired, a damage animation will not repeat itself. For example, if the last animation your character played was forward_damage_01, and your list contains forward_damage_01, forward_damage_02 and forward_damage_03, then your randomized options will only consist of forward_damage_02 and forward_damage_03.
