Cris Tales: The Past, Present, & Future Of RPGs
60When the team at Dreams Uncorporated developed Cris Tales, they did so with a particular philosophy. “Learn from the past. Act in the present. Change the future.” This is clear when you play the RPG, as hero Crisbell uses her time-manipulating powers to defeat her enemies in combat and solve puzzles in the overworld.
But if you look beyond the game itself, you can see that Cris Tales embodies this philosophy in the larger timeline of game development -- that’s what we’re diving into in this video. The creators took influence from RPGs that came before it, embraced modern gaming trends at launch, and hoped to make a name for their home country of Colombia in the game dev scene.
