78Resident Evil has had a fantastic cast of characters over the years, from Chris and Claire Redfield to Jill Valentine to Leon Kennedy. These heroes were defined by the horrific events they survived, but they're also defined by their blood types. That’s thanks to Japanese blood type theory.
The theory was formulated about 100 years ago, and while it’s been disproven many times over, it still has a huge cultural influence in Japan today. Blood types O, A, B, and AB are all associated with specific traits and behaviors, influencing everything from job opportunities to dating. It makes sense that a developer like Capcom would incorporate this concept into its game design, modeling its characters after the various blood types.
