I finally concluded my playthrough of Monster Boy a couple of weeks ago... then forgot to finish the post on YouTube. I guess I was just that desperate to put this one behind me.

In case it hasn't been apparent, I haven't had the greatest experience with this game, and it shows in my hilariously low completion percentage - I was just glad for it to be done. This final segment is once again marred by conveyance issues, this time in two boss battles towards the end of the game - including the final boss itself. It also has a pretty significant difficulty spike going into the last area, although that area also has some neat ideas.

The conveyance issue with the castle boss seems like it may partly be due to glitchiness in the PC version. However, the conveyance issue with the final boss is largely inexcusable, and needlessly further delayed my completion of this game by an entire stream (I've stitched the last 2 segments together in this video). By this point I was so tired of this game's design failures that I immediately looked up what I missed, and...wow. Who on earth decided that a *flame* icon of all things would be the most appropriate icon for something you're supposed to _lick_ in frog form??? I dunno about you, but I don't consider licking flames to be good for my health.

I was really impressed by how far this game took the series in terms of its artwork, animations, and plot. Unfortunately, it still had so many blatant design flaws that I can't see putting myself through any more games in this series (some of the older games are even worse, in that they _require_ extremely unreasonable challenges - at least this game made most of the unreasonable ones optional).
