Motörhead (Amiga) Playthrough / This is what happens when you have one drink too many.
Motörhead (1992) by Kaitsu Software is is a beat'em up game based on a musical license this time, as the game is named after a rock band founded in England called “Motörhead” and its main character is bass guitarist as well as vocalist of the band legendary Lemmy. To be honest, I don't know practically any song of this band, except “Ace os Spade”, so I don't really know if the music in the game in any aspect coincides with the real one. Being honest, I have a lot of criticism towards this game. The point is that many consider it one of the better beat'em up games on Amige...... wow! I'll admit that I'm shocked by such a statement, and at the same time I feel a little sorry because actually, if one were to take a good look at the genre on Amiga computers, this is partly right. The competition in many cases is simply weak, so that this game in total has the right to maintain its position at the top. As for the gameplay, it's simple to the point of pain...... the jump seems practically unnecessary, and the terrain obstacles seem to have been introduced into the game by force, just so that the jump actually made some sense in the game. The combat itself is as stiff as a stick up a scarecrow's ass, static to the point of pain. Apart from the running attack, there is basically no combat dynamics..... the only thing we really have to be constantly focused on is to use power ups or collect them at the right time. This is due to the fact that in addition to the usual attack and running attack we have two special attacks, depending on the power ups. One of them is the range guitar riff, which can only be used if you collect 3 statuettes/points. You can collect them up to a maximum of 3 uses of the guitar so you need to keep this in mind and the indicator of this is the last three “bullets” on the right side in the HUD bar at the bottom of the screen. The second also range attack is the so-called consumables :D like Whisky, a jar of pickles? or a can of beer. The first two give us access to a range attack that destroys virtually any opponent in one hit. It looks like Lemmy spitting phlegm .... ughhh. The beer can, on the other hand, renews our life points and gives us the ability to throw it at an opponent dealing minimal damage. The mechanics of repelling the opponent works on some principles I do not understand, because there are cases that the opponent is repelled after one hit, after two , sometimes after three and in other cases not at all. And that would be basically it as far as gameplay is concerned. At the end of each level we get on a motorcycle or other vehicle and collect power ups, and at the end of each level there is a kind of mini-game involving, among other things, drinking beer, finding a group, demolishing a room, etc. It's just a shame that half of these mini games are so poorly described and poorly introduced. One could say that we are suddenly thrown into wide waters, without any explanation of what we have to do and time is already passing. All I know about the game is that it's about freeing team members from the hands of stereotypical cultural groups. It doesn't appeal to me at all and I consider it a weak excuse to create a fighting game based on it, instead of focusing on creating a rhythm or logic game, which would certainly make more sense in this case. The game is painfully average and I would even say below average. Graphically, for me, it doesn't stand out with anything except its caricatural approach to character design..... plus weak animations and boring levels. The level of difficulty is negligible and the fights with "bosses" are easier than those with ordinary groups of opponents. It would seem that the music should be the greatest asset of such a game, because it is based on a real rock band. And here it turned out to be half-hearted because half of the songs are good (mainly those related to rock rhythms) and the rest are simply boring and bland. For me, a weak, played-out approach to the license. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it, but you can play it for lack of anything better.
