1:06 I begin 3-3. I do not recommend the method I'm using here to get Hyper Mode. It's a borderline suicide tactic. If these centipedes use their jumping attack on you twice in a row, it will kill you, as each hit is more than 50% of your health. Also if you ever mess up and get hit by their Acid Spit, your gear will all break and you'll have to run back to the Nexus for repairs. I try to use them just in the name of speeding the video along, but as a tactic I would recommend simply waiting for Makoto to put you in Hyper Mode while standing at the archstone.

2:49 I forget who I learned this technique from. I believe it was Square_wave. Regardless, I'm a huge fan of it. You have to make sure to tuck in two "columns" before the Black Phantom, then wait until after his SECOND running animation to get around him. Don't roll like I did... make sure you're holding circle beforehand. It nearly gets me killed here.

3:08 On the second Black Phantom, you need to tuck a little bit earlier, more like three pillars out. If you're up on the next one it will only take him one dash to reach you, then he'll kill you.

3:25 I enter the Old Monk fight. There's not a lot you can really do about the Old Monk, as far as cheesing him goes. While overall he's definitely one of the easiest bosses in the game, there aren't many reliable tricks for him. He starts the battle instantly aggro'd, and there's no way to ever unlock him. He's initially short range, but eventually adds Homing Soul Arrows.

The only valuable trick I've ever found for him is that his AI really does not handle the Northern Regalia's R1 moveset well at all. You should always only swing twice, and only ever with a full stamina bar, reserving a little bit of stamina in case he doesn't play nice and you have to roll away (especially once he has Homing Soul Arrows up). You can see a perfect example of why on my very first exchange with him here. If I had gone for a third swing, depending on timing, there's a good chance he would have rolled in and killed me.

3:48 Or you can see it here... I get greedy and go for a third swing, thinking I have the fight in the bag. Instead he rolls out, and his Homing Soul Arrow ends me because I don't have the stamina to roll myself. So close... but I should have known better.

4:06 So we start over. This is the beginning of my actual successful run.

5:35 Here I enter the actual winning encounter with the boss. All of my execution is more solid this time around, so this is a fast, clean fight.

After this, I do some shopping to check out Patches' new merch, then perform my usual suicides.
