This video is part of a series on various aspects of my favorite ongoing anime: Chainsaw Man. I discuss the prominent metaphor throughout the show that casts Denji as a "dog," and my main claim is that the meaning of this metaphor changes depending on the context in which Denji is operating. Sometimes it is meant to be derogatory, sometimes it's meant to be a little bit k*nky, and sometimes it's just supposed to be a little bit silly.

The dog metaphor also tells us something about Denji's relationship to Makima and Aki Hayakawa, and the effect that the devil in his heart has on his nature.
