[DFFOO JP][FEOD:T 4 Left Wing on 1-month-old account] Lann and Reynn vs Pudding (Short Edition)
1I did Transcendence 5 no problem but when I went to try and do T4 for rewards, I realized there was a white crystal character requirement and since this account started on 31/1/2021, there was absolutely no white characters that have a LD for pulling since then. Therefore I have had to wait till the release on the twins to do it (inb4 I need them for T6 coming next month and I need to free them).
Character choices:
Mog:
This is really not a choice tbh because Mog is pretty much the only cleanse character barring Cid EX to cleanse things recently (saving Cid for later FEODs).
Lann and Reynn:
perfect for this fight. You can practically ignore their elemental shift because Pthey have 5 imperils and they have bonuses tied to the number of targets in the fight. They deal a crazy amount of 100% AOE damage.
Gabranth:
With limited roaster, it was between Tifa, Gabranth and Iroha. It is true that Tifa is quite a good complement to snipe the boss with strong ST damage while the twins AOE everything. However during the test runs she takes quite a bit of consecutive turns. I did not like the pacing and very often the orb would go off so I chose the judge himself. Gabranth can instant break the boss when it gets a large amount of BRV when the adds are dead; rebreaks to control turn order. I ended up finding him to have the best pacing for this fight. He also reapplies his personal debuffs when anyone on the party is hit, so the resummoned adds get debuffed and lower the reliance on debuff calls.
Why the short version?
Because the boss is very tanky, and the fight itself does not change much throughout the fight: the orb does not go away; no additional mechanics just cycles of the same thing. Gabranth's presence means they practically do no damage and since he instant breaks the boss, its high BRV gain phase presents no issue at all. It is an uneventful fight so I have decided to only show the last cycle of it.
I used either HP attack or C65 on Mog to get instant turn rate to get rid of the blind debuff then cleanse the debuffs after the adds spent their recast.
Sometimes Mog LD in advance to use the free skill with c65, in case I would do another cycle and c65 ran out.
Last thing is the orb and burst phase. In my test run, I found that this team has a tendency to push the boss too far with breaks and rebreaks so the boss would take a long vacation without debuffs for me to cleanse. Also the twins' absurd amount of damage meant that the adds would never live before the burst phase is done, thus no hope in giving you new debuffs to cleanse. Thus, I burst at the end combining Cait Call, Cid Call and Iroha Call with summon phase for a large amount of damage to meet the 65 turn requirement before the orb expired, with having Gabranth practically spammed his LD to battery the party (those 12xKs lol) and pushed targets far far away in the process.
