I suppose this is technically still part of the Myotismon arc but this battle really stands out in this game, so I thought it deserved being highlighted in a separate video.

And when I say "battle", I do mean two battles, haha. For some reason, you fight him twice, and do so with the same party without chance to heal in between the two. I decided I'd only show the second one because it appears to be harder - the boss gets a new attack, deals more damage and Angewomon is likely to begin the fight injured to some extent - levelling up restores you to full HP/MP in this game (that was the case in the turtle-slow Digimon World 2 for the PSX too iirc).

Agumon and Gabumon are forced here, and digivolve to their Mega forms automatically / free of cost for both battles. They have always been good, but being granted Mega forms unique to the party until the very end of the game (where the game's creators decided to be creative and introduce mega forms for the rest of the mons as well, contrary to the anime) just means they're a must for pretty much every battle from now on. Sadly, Matt decides to go emo teenager on us shortly in the storyline, so MetalGarurumon doesn't have nearly the same availability as WarGreymon (who rapes face non-stop pretty much).

The third slot can be anyone, but of course I make Gatomon my third. Access to Saint Air for great, yet expensive, healing, tons of SP (more than Agumon and Gabumon put together with stat boosters factored in), fast, decent attack if comboing with somebody. Her damage isn't as high as it was in the last Myotismon fight, so she's a support character here, but she sure makes a fantastic one, no doubt.

VenomMyotismon has the 1K recovery thing we've got used to by now (it's no longer very significant with attacks dealing a lot more damage), and strikes twice per turn, using mostly multi-target abilities. Healing every other turn at least is pretty much required, and having buffs / debuffs grants a very valuable advantage that is really hard to go without in this fight.

Once buffed up, my folks spam their main, most expensive attacks. Looking back, WarGreymon probably should've been using Brave Tornado instead of Gaia Force because that's a single-target and multi-hit attack, and later I learnt that it's preferable not only in the instances when we're fighting Dramons - all sorts of dragon Digimon basically. Gaia Force is good enough too, though, but best applied against multi-target bosses and fights.

I didn't synthesize items much on this run, but before this fight I went ahead and fused myself a second Counter passive ability. With one of those on each of my Megas, I could easily outdamage that 1K healing / boss's turn just by virtue of countering 1-4 times at least once VenomMyotismon is done carrying out both of his turns every round.
