A long-awaited segment of this challenge and a particularly important segment. Due to the difficulty of going solo, Ramza has a very limited number of MBO-friendly builds that can go against Wiegraf and hope to win. Imagine him getting a job like Thief or Archer - it's dubious that a lv. 1 Ramza with a suboptimal skillset could hope to emerge victorious under such conditions.

In a way, the challenge could've easily ended right here and I was getting ready for that... by trying to learn Knight's Equip Armour (not sure why, but Ramza doesn't really have anything valuable in terms of passive abilities available anyway) and Chemist's X-Potion. None of that succeeded (Rafa teleported too soon to continue adding to Ramza's spillover JP) but it turned out it wasn't necessary anyway.

The RNG I got for the Velius battle (and the Wiegraf solo preceding it) was as follows:

14 Ramza - Wizard
12 Crono - Squire
13 Lenneth - Mediator (again)
12 Mitsuru - Thief
12 Ryu - Thief

What we care the most about here is Ramza's job obviously. It's Wizard! This means two things; okay, three actually - 1) the ability to equip the Chameleon Robe to discourage the use of Lightning Stab (deadly without X-Potion access and, indeed, high enough HP), 2) access to a decent enough long-ranged attack (which is... Bolt, haha, but it's not too bad when we have Speed Save and healing), 3) no healing within the main job, requiring Item secondary to stay alive for the whole battle.

Besides that... Ramza equips the Chameleon Robe to save himself from Lightning Stab and Feather Boots so that we can more easily control the distance between him and Wiegraf and when the latter can attack Ramza. Swinging sword from point-blank range is deadly, but if Wiegraf is 2-3 squares away he'll Wave Fist Ramza. The damage is good enough to 2HKO (and sometimes KO with a stray crit), but low enough to be healed off with mere Hi-Potions.

Ramza walks around and heals himself while triggering Speed Save (got lucky during the first few turns, which is important), waiting for a chance to fire off a Bolt at Wiegraf. 3-4 Bolts later, Wiegraf is in critical and will be forced to retreat and transform into his monster form... I was kinda afraid of this, but as you can tell by my builds in the pre-battle menu, 3 characters out of 4 have Yin-Yang Magic secondary (besides Lenneth who never learnt a certain quintessential Oracle skill) and they also have poorer MP-raising equips to allow a doublecast of Life Drain.

In the end, what happens is that Velius and his allies don't get a chance to deal any damage at all - absolutely none, while Ramza chips in with Bolt and the rest use Life Drain (Lenneth is on standby in case anyone dies, but Velius neither goes for a quickened summon nor is able to connect a physical against Ryu).

That's it...

I had to teach Ramza Move +2 (sacrificing potential Thief JP for, say, Balk's elemental gun or Chantage, but we'll see if I can get either of these on this run) so that he would be able to escape from Wiegraf without trouble (after Speed Save kicked in twice or so).

Finally, I include the rooftop battle against Elmdore in this same video. The RNG gave me the following classes:

14 Ramza - Knight
12 Crono - Squire (again)
13 Lenneth - Chemist
12 Mitsuru - Priest
12 Ryu - Squire

Not very good, but we can make the opposition co-operate to achieve the map objective and just re-direct one Assassin girl's Ultima unto her own self. Gun chipping at good compat seems to help, as does stabbing her with a knife midcharge. Rafa would've died here due to being reckless with a stick, but her assassin whiffed one hit when double-swording. Good for us!

And with that, we enter chapter 4. What's in store of us? I don't know as I haven't played this challenge for several weeks but I'll find out very soon!
