Nvidia and ARM may have just CHANGED PC gaming forever, with their new demo of an RTX 30 GPU and an ARM CPU running various ray traced and DLSS games. ARM is the world's most widely used CPU architecture, and the demos show it running ray tracing and Nvidia's DLSS upsampling tech with ease. Nvidia showed off this demo at GDC 2021, and Nvidia claim that the performance and energy efficiency of ARM CPUs with NVIDIA technologies can open an entirely new class of PCs.
RTX obviously started the wave of ray tracing and upsampling with their first RTX GPUs and DLSS 1.0, and it's becoming more widespread than ever thanks to RDNA 2 GPUs being in both the PS5 and Xbox Series X next gen consoles, and this move from Nvidia could add a whole new class of PC hardware to the PC gaming space. The demos were demonstrated on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GPU paired with a MediaTek Kompanio 1200 ARM processor, and it's very cool to see ray traced shadows and DLSS running on the ARM architecture.
