This is Ultimate Doom with OpenAL Soft HRTF in RBDoom3BFG Classic using Per Kristian's Hi-Def soundpack. It might seem redundant to cover the quarter-assed ports of Doom 1 & 2 from the BFG Edition, but there is a notable reason why I did it. You see, RBDoom3BFG Classic actually has much more accurate 3D positional audio than GZDoom does. Is it worth the 35FPS limit, badly-randomized pitches, censorship, and lack of any QoL port features like freelook and truecolor rendering? Well no, but it's still an interesting thing to document. Honestly, the improved binaural accuracy is moot considering vanilla sound channel and rolloff limitations. Also, setting music volume to zero causes weird static noise which is actually the Doom 3 menu theme playing at extremely low volume.
Whereas I consider "Halls of the Damned" one of the top 5 best levels from Doom 1, Petersen's "Mt. Erebus" would actually be one of the top 5 worst levels were it not for Episode 4. It's hideous, it has poor gameplay, and it requires a secret (4:32) just to beat it. It's actually funny how much American McGee fixed it for the console ports. Not only did he integrate the useless wooden building (6:12) into the main progression, but he also misaligned the secret door's texture as much as possible. He even went as far as changing the blood floor in the normal exit (9:07) to nukage just for extra contrast!
