A playthrough of Sofel's 1992 NES game, Dragon Fighter.

The game has a harder second loop after the ending, but since there's no new ending or anything else changed but the difficulty, I didn't record it.

This is a game that, even when it was brand new, got virtually ignored, but for fans of Natsume's style of NES platformers - and really, who isn't (Shatterhand! Shadow of the Ninja!)? - this really is a "hidden gem" if you will. And with time it's only become more obscure after collectors figured out what a low print run it had and have driven the price of the cart up to super-exorbitant values.

It plays much like Natsume's other games, but this time, you can change into three different types of dragons, each with a different special power, at the expense of the gauge at the top of the screen. It's really sweet how it allows for totally different approaches and gameplay styles. It really ups the replay value.

And the music is just as sick as always. Great game!
