DUSK E3 2016 Demo [PC, New Blood Interactive]
This is the rare prototype build of Dusk that was shown off only at E3 2016. It was secretly added to the goodies folder on June 25th, 2018 and predates the Pre-Pre-Pre-Alpha build by several months. There are some notable differences:
-There are two scrapped levels with completely unique textures.
-David Szymanski's temp music is used instead of Andrew Hulshult's.
-Strafing while jumping does not build up speed, meaning no bunnyhopping.
-Endless Mode works on a simple timer rather than waves.
-Codes are not implemented.
-The soldiers look much different and only fire 1 bullet.
-Instead of wizards, there are headless, shambling zombies.
-Health cannot go above 100.
-Medkits have red crosses instead of green.
-There is a hammer instead of the sickles that has very long range.
-The sword has no charge-up attack, no block, and its normal fire is much weaker.
-The pistol sound is slightly different.
-The shotgun is a pump-action that has double the pellet spread and is bound to 4.
-The super shotgun is bound to the same key as the shotgun instead of another slot.
-The assault rifle's flip animation is unfinished.
-The hunting rifle sound is much quieter, the damage is weaker, and it's bound to 3.
-There is no crossbow at this point in development.
-The mortar launcher sound is completely different and there's no detonation hotkey.
-The riveter sound is slightly different.
-The cigar animation is slower.
-Flipping weapons does no damage to enemies.
-The camera animations are different and more jarring.
-There are no rocket jump mechanics as you will see in the video.
On one hand, this demo is very primitive and doesn't really showcase the artistic vision of David Szymanski. On the other hand, the authentic 90's gameplay is still apparent the second you touch the controls. Even at this stage, David really nailed that retro feeling though I must say the prototype feels more like Doom than Quake.
