FF The 4 Heroes of Light - Low Level Game Part 12: Beelzebub
Decided to fight Belezebub before taking on Asmodeus and Leviathan, because he seemed like he would be easier than the other two.
Beelzebub is resistant to all elements, he knows top fire-elemental magic and his physical are non-elemental and likely to inflict the curse status as well as other possible statuses. For this reason, Ribbons are a must, and a Flame Shield is a good idea on the surviving character.
Since he resists everything, we should concentrate on damaging the boss with non-elemental magic. Magic Might, Black Mage's top skill that you get when you master the class completely, is just the thing we need. Contrary to popular misconception, buffs like Spell Focus do NOT increase the power of Magic Might because it apparently is not a black magic spell but just a magical Black Mage-unique special ability. Remember this if you didn't know, it'll save you some turns you might otherwise waste doing all the buffing.
I dedicate two girls to casting Magic Might and Salve-maker and Bard for support. Bard boosts the party's offensive and defensive stats while Salve-maker mostly just uses free Hi-Ethers, allowing one girl to cast another Magic Might next turn without having to wait for the AP to return for one turn.
Magic Might doesn't do much damage, its power ranging from below 200 (before Lux) to potential 500-700 damage when the caster is psyched up.
When some turns pass, the boss goes up in the air. He'll prepare his special attack and use it on the second turn after this, dealing strong damage to everybody when landing and hurting himself as well.
In this phase, I want him to eliminate the 3 characters that won't be surviving the outcome of the fight, leaving only the Black Mage there. Fall of Angels, the special, is one heck of an attack, so having Paladin Armor (not upgraded) equipped allows the right people to die on time. Then we finish the boss off the next turn.
He was already critical the previous turn (you can tell when a boss is at critical health when the music suddenly changes) so we just needed to add some more damage to it and he's dead.
I dunno if I'll be doing Asmodeus or Leviathan next. Both seem like they will be more difficult than what we'd faced before.
