This one boss has magic of light and wind elements. While you can easily halve light damage with Holy Shields, there's no way to protect from wind-elemental attacks besides using an Elementalist or equipping the Wind Cape we got earlier in Arbor.
Lucifer is weak to dark-element attacks, surprisingly. Black Mages casting Darkga after some buffs strike him pretty hard even at our low levels.
The most annoying thing about Lucifer is how he'll use Judgement Bolt when up in the air, depleting all our AP to zero and not allowing us to do anything. This is really more of an annoyance than a serious threat however.
However, there's a different problem. As usual, this is a low level game and we only want one survivor. And with Lux, the ultimate white magic spell that enhances all stats, and equipped with Paladin Armor/Armor of Light and Holy Shields, believe it or not, this supposedly threatening boss cannot really penetrate the party's defences at all. The damage he does to them will be recovered with Lux's Regen effect the same turn, or the one after.
So actually the hardest thing here is to have only one character survive. It was Aire's turn to level up here, so I gave her the best armour and equips I had. I removed Holy Shields from the rest and gave them dated, poor armour that would make them withstand a single physical attack but giving them decent equipment would make it nearly impossible to have one survivor. In the older FFs, you can always hit yourself to death by targeting respective allies but with auto-targeting in this game, we can't really attack ourselves unless confused.
In other words, upgrading the best store-bought equipment at this point in the game to +9 makes battles pretty easy. However, we won't be much stronger than now when we reach the final boss, and the difficulty will have gone up very significantly by then. Let's see how
we'll be able to pull off the battles ahead.
