This a modified version of FF7 which enhances the HP/MP and stats of enemies and bosses. Don't bother with asking me where to find it. Google will be your loyal guide and friend.

Ugh, I really hated having to do so much leveling here. However, there were two reasons that really made me have to do it.

First, my original plan was to learn Chocobuckle and power it up enough for this fight. However, I eventually noticed that I would have to use an item to make this happen. Dang.

Finally, 2 Tail Lasers in a row means an instant Game Over at lv13-14, even while defending with full HP and in the back row. If I could do any decent damage, I would have taken the chances. 6400 HP though plus boosted defenses (Cloud did ~80 with physicals at lv13 + ~260 dmg with Cross-Slash, Aeris ~55 dmg with Fire at lv14, Red ~45 dmg with Fire at lv13 + ~150 dmg with Sled Fang) pretty much means the fight is extremely long and very close to impossible IMO at these levels.

With the grinding though, the main killer, a dual Tail Laser, can be averted.

Still, without a good strategy here, you can easily lose the battle in an instant.

As the battle opens, Jenova-BIRTH must use Stop and it must miss.

Red uses Lunatic High, Cloud uses Climhazzard, and Aeris uses Beta.

For next few turns while Jenova-BIRTH does nothing, Cloud attacks with physicals (~120 in the back row with Long Range materia equipped), Aeris Betas again, Red uses a couple Fire2s (~130-140 dmg a cast).

I utilize the Wait trick here to get an extra cast of Beta off before I have to have Aeris cast PP next turn. That's when Jenova-BIRTH starts the laser part of her attack cycle. PP will last me until just after she uses Tail Laser. That's when everyone must defend. W-Laser does roughly the same damage as her normal lasers which is ~400-420 in the back row while defending.

Even then, there's a chance Jenova will hit a person with two W-Lasers in a row, meaning they are dead. Thankfully I could buy Revive materia in Junon and thusly cast Life on whomever gets affected.

After this, there's a small chance Jenova will use Gas, but will only use it once if she does use it. Does the same damage as her lasers while defending in the back row.

Once this passes, the cycle starts over with Stop. Just pray it doesn't connect on Aeris or you could very well be screwed here. If it hits Red or Cloud, that's better. Best scenario though is if it misses outright which means more chances for dealing damage.

After this, the basic idea is that after Jenova uses her lasers, either Red or Cloud heals Aeris if she took a blow, depending on which character got hit. If everyone took a laser to the face, pick either character to heal Aeris (She should be defending this whole time of course).

Come Tail Laser time, she can survive through two Tail Lasers if that happens. Provided she was hit by a laser beforehand, two Tail Lasers should give her another limit from which you can do either Pulse of Life (If both Cloud and Red are KO'd) or Planet Protector (If only one of them is KO'd).

IF PoL is used, the character that was defending before dying...apparently will still be defending even after being revived. Odd. That means that even in the worst case scenario where two people get killed by W-Lasers, you can just cast Life to bring them back.

For the killing blow, it's best to get it set up after a Stop is cast. Red and Cloud move to the front row (Not that it's needed, but I just wanted to see the damage they take in the front row), then Aeris finishes the boss off after the lasers are done firing.

Levels are way high right now (Cloud 17, Aeris 19, Red 17, Barret 16, Tifa 16). Blame Jenova-BIRTH for that.

Thankfully though, there's no more need to power grind just because there's no other way to beat a boss. Rest of disc 1 should not pose too much hassle now.
