FFVII Hard Mod - Low Level No Items - Learning Beta
3This a modified version of FF7 which enhances the HP/MP and stats of enemies and bosses. Don't bother with asking me where to find it. Google will be your loyal guide and friend.
As much as I didn't want to do it, I had to do some grinding because Jenova-BIRTH is basically near impossible in this challenge at lv13-14. The low damage dealt to it at said levels plus the fact that a double Tail Laser is an instant Game Over pretty much seals the deal.
Oh if only I could get Chocobuckle in this challenge. Then none of this would be necessary.
But anyways, after finishing my grinding, I decided to try this fight to see if surviving its attacks were viable. After realizing that it was possible, I wanted to get Beta.
This is the first battle in which I utilize the Cover strategy. Basically, I give 5 Cover materia to Red and have him defend all the time. Since the Zolom has only single target physical attacks, Red can easily eat up the damage. Cure keeps his health up while poison drains the Zolom's HP.
After it reaches ~2000 HP, it's time to start learning Beta. I start by having Cloud use Climhazzard (Gained as part of my grinding). This makes the Zolom rise up.
From there, Cloud attacks normally while Aeris fires up PP. One more physical from Cloud after this should trigger the counter attack and boot him out of the fight. This is when Aeris attacks with Fire2 (Also gained as a part of level grinding). Zolom uses Beta, Aeris learns it, I'm happy. I just await its death afterwards.
BTW, you do need PP to learn Beta this early. Zolom's Beta hits for ~2100 dmg under Sadness.
Finally, I sped up this video because I don't think anyone wants to see 3/4ths of the video consist of waiting for its HP to decrease.
