Game: Final Fantasy
Platform: NES
Completed: February 19, 2022
Rules: Beat the game with a team of four Red Mages. Promoting to Red Wizards is allowed.
Part: 2 of 6

After neutralizing the pirates in Pravoka and commandeering their ship, Hanj and his team of Red Mages decide to spend hours at the "peninsula of power" to gain like nine levels and a ton of GP to buy very valuable items, equipment, and magic. This makes it to where the next several videos don't contain a bunch of grinding and allows them to be more exciting. This entire video is pretty much just grinding and shopping but I tried to find some highlights anyways:

8 minutes - Buying items in large quantities takes forever in this game since you can only buy one item at a time.

24 minutes, 20 seconds - Pure potions take even longer to buy than potions because they are farther down on the list and the cursor starts at the top each time. This actually makes it awful to buy large quantities of items that are far down on the list.

34 minutes, 20 seconds - All of your characters start with the same experience point requirements to level up. This means that they all go up levels at the exact same time as long as nobody has finished a battle dead, since dead characters do not earn experience points. Because of this, I chose to reset here to preserve that for a while. But it won't be preserved forever.

44 minutes, 40 seconds - Look at this ridiculous Sahag fight. That's just how this game is...I'm way overpowered at level 12 and still get ambushed and can't one-shot weak enemies consistently. Part of the reason is because spells have such a huge range of damage they can do. I think what goes on behind the scenes is that spells always do damage but can "miss", which causes them to do less than their full potential. This is troublesome throughout the entire game.

2 hours, 4 minutes, 15 seconds - I wanted to see if I could get the only enemy in a battle to run but it didn't work out. I figured it couldn't happen but later on I find out that it can!

Back to the actual storyline in part 3...
