Phantasy Star II (Genesis) - Rolf Only (Part 4)
Game: Phantasy Star II
Platform: Sega Genesis
Completed: September 14, 2021
Rules: Beat the game using Rolf only. Except he's YOYO!
Part: 4 of 7
In part four YOYO fights Blastoids for a little over two hours until he finally reaches level 30 and learns Rever. This can be used to revive Nei right before the boss battle where she's required to be alive, and can be killed again. But you know what? The final and most powerful technique, Megid, comes at only five more levels...Alright...this entire 3 hour and 51 minute video is nothing but grinding battles to gain experience. Probably not worth watching to be honest, except for maybe the odd game crashing glitch around the 1 hour, 23 minute mark.
Here are some highlights (even a pure level grinding video can have highlights!):
30 minutes, 30 seconds - Looks like you can get into a battle on top of a staircase. Cool.
1 hours, 23 minutes, 20 seconds - What happened here? My controller disconnected so I replaced the batteries and the game glitched up and slowed down, and every time I hit the button it would resume its normal speed and then on the next button press it would slow down again. Then after the battle the game totally crashed. I was using the Genesis Plus GX core through RetroArch and the "Phantasy Star II (USA, Europe) (Rev A).md" rom file. Always something new going on but at least I got it recorded. It was well worth the time loss.
2 hours, 12 minutes - Finally got Rever at level 30! I decided it would be really cool to go ahead and get Megid at level 35 though so time for more grinding!
3 hours, 21 minutes, 30 seconds - An ambush from a Whirly! Way to heal right from the start!
