Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster - Ch. 12 - Moogle Village
Last time, we finally took our first steps into Galuf's home world. Although, almost immediately, we were captured and Galuf ended up having to save us! We met Gilgamesh, Exdeath's right-hand man and had a pair of boss fights against him. Inconceivable! He was a total pushover for the most part. Especially if you use Silence on him. We crossed Big Bridge but ended up getting flung to faraway Gloceana. We stopped off at Regole to have some of their famous Regole Brew and fought a Shield Dragon at Kuza, the Sealed Castle. Now, there's a square of forest up ahead that looks a little sus...
CHAPTER 12 - MOOGLE VILLAGE
Moogles! Mog is definitely my favorite character in FF6, so it's always nice to see a moogle or two. There was a girl in Regole who called a boy a liar for claiming he saw a moogle in the forest. Well, it looks like she owes him an apology, because immediately after stepping into the forest, we see a bonafide moogle in the fur! They're very timid creatures, so it runs off after talking to it. A hole opens up and it falls in. Go after the moogle and fall into the 'Underground Waterway.
It's not a huge area, but like the Desert of Shifting Sands, you'll be swept up by the current and be susceptible to random battles while you're moving. There's not much to do here, but you might as well get the two or so treasures that are here. The second one is a Phoenix Down. You'll see a door located right by it. Forget it, as it leads to nothing. If you go the other way, you'll soon catch up with Mr. Moogle. It appears it's being harassed by some monster whose sprite resembles Dry Bones from the Super Mario franchise.
Dry Bones is actually 'Tyranosaur' an undead monster. You can easily kill it in one turn using a Phoenix Down or Elixir. But what would be the sport in that? Also, I'm not wasting an elixir on this guy. Tyranosaur has 5,000 HP and has a weakness to Fire. If you use Fire magic (whether it be Black or even Blue), it'll counter with Poison Breath, which does strong damage and will poison the whole party. I had my Mystic Knight use Spellblade to enchant his weapon with Fira. This does a nice 1,200 HP of damage. You can also use Fira, Ifrit or the Blue Magic spell 'Flamethrower' if you have it. Half my party died, but I managed.
After the battle, the Moogle will show you how to get to Moogle Village. It's trying to give you a hint to not walk through the desert. I'm not sure if anything tough is lurking there, but the monsters on the plains and the forest are weak AF. Head to the spot where the moogle went and you'll enter Moogle Village. The moogle will express its thanks by giving you a few treasures (amusingly, one treasure chest has 10K gil while another has only 1). The moogle still has some gratitude left and will start using its telepathy to contact Krile's moogle.
Krile is able to understand what her moogle is telling her and heads to Moogle Village on a very tired windrake dragon. The party is whisked away to a castle where they discover that Galuf is its king! King Galuf! Bartz can't seem to get over the shock. Things haven't been going well during our absence. Exdeath's monsters are everywhere and are wiping out Galuf's troops. The windrake pushed itself too hard and is now in danger of dying if they don't find any dragon grass. Surely, there's gotta be some somewhere on this planet!
Hey, I think we're about halfway through! This game's pretty long, huh?
