Goobies is a new roguelike/survivors game where you earn level ups, which allows you to get new abilities. You basically fight to see how long you can last, earning permanent upgrades the more you play. It's basically the same as Vampire Survivor, Yet Another Zombie Survivors, Halls of Torment, etc. type of game.

At certain times during a run, you will be able to kill mini-bosses, and elite bosses (which are named). When you kill one of these mini-bosses or elite bosses, you get a roulette wheel that spins, giving you ability enhancements. While the wheel spins, time is frozen in the background, preventing you from being attacked.

When you level up in this game, time pauses, just like with the roulette wheel, allowing you to choose from a pool of new abilities, or upgrades for abilities you have already chosen. You are allowed to take your time to strategically choose what you want for your run.

The issue is when you level up AND kill one of these bosses, or mini-bosses, at the same time. If you do this, the roulette wheel will spin, and after you land on your prize, you will be taken to the level up screen with the ability cards. However, for some reason, the time will not pause like it should when you normally level up! You will be able to take damage until you pick an ability.

This puts the Player in a bad situation because not only is their view of the action obscured by the cards, which can easily get you killed by exploding enemies, but moving the character also moves the ability selection at the same time, causing you to sometimes choose something you didn't want.

This always causes panic for me, and I just quickly choose the first card that is highlighted. This hurts in the long run, though, as the card you pick doing this may not be good for your run at all.
