How to Add Face ID & Fingerprint LOCK Screen on Samsung Phone (Best Method)
Adding both Face Recognition and Fingerprint as a lock screen on your Samsung Galaxy phone provides the best balance of security and convenience. You must first set up a secure backup lock method like a PIN, Pattern, or Password before you can use biometrics.
Here is the step-by-step guide to set up both:
Part 1: Set a Secure Backup Screen Lock
You must set a secure lock method (PIN, Pattern, or Password) before you can register your biometrics. This backup is essential for when biometrics fail or after restarting your phone.
Open your phone's Settings app.
Tap Security and privacy (or Lock screen and AOD / Biometrics and security on older devices).
Tap Lock screen (or Screen lock type).
Select one of the following as your primary lock screen:
PIN (Recommended)
Password (Most secure)
Pattern
Follow the on-screen instructions to create and confirm your backup lock.
Part 2: Register Your Fingerprint
The location of the fingerprint sensor varies by model (in-screen, on the side/power button, or on the back).
From the main Settings menu, go to Security and privacy (or Biometrics and security).
Tap Biometrics.
Tap Fingerprints.
Enter the PIN, Password, or Pattern you set in Part 1.
Tap Continue or Add fingerprint.
Follow the on-screen prompts to scan your finger. You'll need to lift and press your finger repeatedly, covering all edges and angles, until the process is 100% complete.
Tip: Register at least one finger from each hand for convenience.
When finished, tap Done.
Ensure the switch next to Fingerprint unlock is turned On.
