While the PS5 does not allow you to change the background of your main home screen, you can change the background image that appears on your personal profile page. This is called a "cover image." The process requires a bit of a workaround to get a custom image onto your PS5, but it is achievable.

The Best Method: Using the PS5's "Hidden" Browser and Screenshot Function
This method lets you get any image from the web and use it as your profile cover.

Open the Hidden Browser: From the PS5 home screen, go to the Game Base (the chat icon at the bottom of the quick menu).

Start a Message: Find a friend or start a new group chat. In the text box, type a simple web address like google.com and send it. The PS5 will create a clickable link.


Find Your Image: Select the link you just sent. This will open a web browser. Use the browser to search for the image you want to use as your profile cover.

Screenshot the Image: Once you find the image you want, open it in full-screen view. Press the Create button on your controller to take a screenshot. You can then use the PS5's built-in editing tools to crop and adjust the image to your liking.

Set as Cover Image:

Once you've saved the cropped screenshot, go to your Profile (by selecting your avatar in the top-right corner of the home screen).

Select "Profile" again.

Choose "Edit Profile".

Select "Cover Image".

Choose "Change Image".

Your media gallery will appear. Select the screenshot you just took and press "Select."

Save Your Changes: You'll see a preview of how the new cover image will look on your profile. If you're happy with it, select "Save."

Your profile cover image will now be updated for you and your friends to see when they visit your profile page.
