Connecting your PS5 controller to a PC and then switching back to your PS5 console is now easier than ever due to a recent PS5 system software update. The DualSense controller can now remember up to four paired devices, eliminating the need to re-pair it every time you switch.

Here are the best methods to connect and switch between your PC and PS5.

Part 1: Connect to Your PC
Turn off the controller: If your controller is on, press and hold the PS button until the lights turn off.

Activate Pairing Mode: Press and hold the PS button and the Share button (the small button to the left of the touchpad) at the same time until the light bar starts to flash blue. This puts the controller in a general Bluetooth pairing mode.

Connect to PC: On your Windows PC, go to Settings Devices Bluetooth & other devices. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled.

Click "Add Bluetooth or other device", then select Bluetooth. Your PC should detect the "DualSense Wireless Controller". Select it to pair.

Alternatively, you can connect your controller to your PC using a USB-C cable. Windows will automatically detect it and it will work as a wired controller.


Part 2: Switch Back to PS5
With the recent multi-device pairing update, you can now switch back to your PS5 console without having to re-pair the controller.

Make sure your PS5 console is turned on.

Press and hold the PS button and the Triangle button simultaneously for about 3 seconds. The controller will switch from your PC and automatically connect to the PS5.

Note: The PS5 is usually assigned to Slot 1 (PS button + Triangle). If you have other devices paired, they'll be assigned to different slots (e.g., PS button + Circle for Slot 2, PS button + Cross for Slot 3, etc.).
