How to Control PS5 with TCL TV Remote & Turn on HDMI CEC (Best Method)
Controlling your PS5 with your TCL TV remote is a convenient feature that eliminates the need to constantly switch between remotes. The key to making this work is a technology called HDMI CEC, which stands for Consumer Electronics Control. It allows devices connected via HDMI to communicate and control each other.
The "best method" involves enabling this feature on both your PS5 and your TCL TV.
Step 1: Enable HDMI CEC on your PS5 (HDMI Device Link)
This is the most critical step on the console side.
Turn on your PS5 and your TCL TV.
On the PS5's home screen, navigate to the Settings menu. The icon looks like a gear and is located in the top-right corner.
Select System.
In the left-hand menu, choose HDMI.
On the right side of the screen, you will see a setting called "Enable HDMI Device Link." Make sure this is toggled On.
Once you've done this, you'll also see two other helpful options:
One-Touch Play: This will automatically turn on your TV and switch to the PS5's HDMI input when you power on the console.
Power Off Link: This will put your PS5 into rest mode when you turn off your TCL TV.
Step 2: Enable HDMI CEC on your TCL TV
TCL's name for HDMI CEC varies depending on the TV's operating system (Roku TV, Google TV, or Android TV), but the functionality is the same.
On a TCL Roku TV:
Press the Home button on your remote.
Navigate to Settings.
Select System.
Choose Control other devices (CEC).
Check the boxes for 1-touch play and System Standby to enable the full functionality.
