How to Create Multiple Partitions on a Single Drive on Windows 10 or 11
You can create multiple partitions on a single drive in Windows 10 or 11 using Disk Management or the Command Prompt (Diskpart). Here's how:
Method 1: Using Disk Management (Easiest)
Open Disk Management
Press Win + X and select Disk Management.
Alternatively, press Win + R, type diskmgmt.msc, and hit Enter.
Shrink the Existing Partition
Right-click the partition you want to split (usually C:).
Select Shrink Volume.
Enter the amount to shrink (in MB). Example: Enter 100000 for 100GB.
Click Shrink.
Create a New Partition
You’ll see unallocated space in black. Right-click it and select New Simple Volume.
Click Next and enter the desired partition size.
Assign a drive letter (e.g., D:).
Choose a file system (NTFS is recommended).
Click Finish.
Repeat for Additional Partitions
If you want more partitions, repeat the process on the remaining unallocated space.
