How to Stop USB devices Suspending on Windows 10 or 11
If USB devices keep suspending (disconnecting or going to sleep) on Windows 10 or 11, you can disable the USB selective suspend setting. Here’s how to stop it:
Method 1: Disable USB Selective Suspend in Power Options
Open Power Options:
Press Win + R, type control, and hit Enter to open the Control Panel.
Navigate to Hardware and Sound → Power Options.
Change Plan Settings:
Click Change plan settings next to your active power plan (e.g., Balanced).
Change Advanced Power Settings:
Select Change advanced power settings.
In the new window, expand USB settings → USB selective suspend setting.
Disable USB Selective Suspend:
Set both On battery and Plugged in to Disabled.
Click Apply, then OK.
Method 2: Disable Power Management for USB Hubs
Open Device Manager:
Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers:
Look for devices like USB Root Hub or Generic USB Hub.
Disable Power Management:
Right-click each hub and select Properties.
Go to the Power Management tab.
Uncheck Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
Click OK.
