How to Format your USB Drive on Windows 10 or 11
Formatting a USB drive on Windows 10 or 11 is a simple process. Here's a step-by-step guide:
Option 1: Format via File Explorer
Insert the USB Drive
Plug your USB drive into your computer.
Open File Explorer
Press Win + E or click on the folder icon in the taskbar.
Locate the USB Drive
Find your USB drive under "This PC" in the left-hand menu.
Right-Click on the USB Drive
Select Format from the context menu.
Choose the File System
Options include:
NTFS: Good for large files but may not work with all devices.
FAT32: Compatible with most devices but has a 4GB file size limit.
exFAT: Best for large files and widely supported.
Adjust the Allocation Unit Size (optional)
Leave this as the default unless you have a specific need to change it.
Enter a Volume Label (optional)
Add a name for the drive if desired.
Check the Quick Format Box
This formats the drive faster. Uncheck it for a more thorough format.
Click Start
A warning will appear stating that all data will be erased. Confirm to proceed.
