About this video: Data packs for Minecraft 1.18.1 is the easiest way to mod Minecraft vanilla worlds. No third party mod loader is required, and you can still do some pretty cool things in Minecraft 1.18.1 with data packs. Everything from adding in the ability to chop down an entire tree by breaking one block of wood on it to adding in random ships that spawn in the ocean with pirates to adding in things like set home and spawn commands. You can do so much with Minecraft data packs for 1.18.1!
The first step of getting data packs is learning how to download data packs in Minecraft 1.18.1. You can find a list of Minecraft data packs that are all Minecraft 1.18.1 compatible in the description above. Once you are there and find a data pack you like, click the green download button under. That will take you to the 1.18.1 data pack’s official download page. From here, every data pack is different. Just make sure the file you download has the name of the data pack in it.
With your Minecraft 1.18.1 data pack downloaded, we can move on to how to install data packs in Minecraft 1.18.1. To do this open up Minecraft 1.18.1. Click on ‘Single Player’, and click once on the world you want to add your data packs to. You will need to repeat this process for every world you want to add data packs to. When the world is selected, click the ‘Edit’ button. Then, click the ‘open world folder’ button. This will open up the world’s folder with all of the world’s files in. In some cases though, your Minecraft data packs won't work. Why is this, because you need to type /reload in chat to activate them. In some cases this still won't work though because you don't have cheats on. To fix this, pause Minecraft and click 'open LAN world'. Make sure to turn cheats on and then open the world to LAN. You can then run the /reload command without any problems.
A final thing to note is that some data pack commands use the /trigger prefix for their commands. This can make things like adding a spawn command confusing at first.
