To get started, we need to download a shaders pack that is 1.14.2 compatible. There are tons of different Minecraft shaders packs. We actually have an incredible Top 5 list of Minecraft shaders packs in the description above. All of the shaders packs there can be installed using this video in 1.14.2. With that being said, we will be installing Sildur's Vibrant Shaders in this video.
Now that you have selected your 1.14.2 Minecraft shaders pack, we need to download and install Optifine in order to get shaders. Optifine is how shaders run in 1.14.2 and actually all previous Minecraft version since 1.12. Optifine makes switching shaders packs, changing shaders options, and optimizing shaders performance very, very easy. Luckily, we have helped millions of people install Optifine in Minecraft, and we have an in-depth guide on doing so. You can see our complete guide on install Optifine in Minecraft 1.14.2 in the description above.
After you have Optifine setup, we can install shaders. From the Minecraft main menu with the Optifine version. Again, you must have Optifine to get shaders. On the Minecraft main menu, click 'options'. Next, select 'Video Settings', and then, click on the 'Shaders' button. If you get an error about 'Fast Render'. Go to performance, and turn 'Fast Render' off. You'll now be able to go back and click the shaders tab.
After you are in the shaders tab, click the 'Open Shaders Folder' in the bottom left of Minecraft. This will open your shaders packs folder. Just drag and drop your shaders pack in this folder. It will automatically appear in Minecraft. You still need to select it in game by click on it. At this point, Minecraft will reload, and you will have officially downloaded and installed shaders in Minecraft 1.14.2.
I do want to mention how to change shaders options in Minecraft. You can do this in the shaders tab. Then, select 'shaders options' in the bottom right. Here you will be able to change things like swaying grass, water, shaders brightness, shadows quality, and so much more. If you have any issues with your shaders pack, shaders options is usually where you can go to fix the issue!
