Thus, let's go ahead and jump right on into starting your 1.14.2 Minecraft server!
First and foremost, I do want to let you know that this is not a 24-hour server. It is meant for your friends and family, and it is hosted on your own computer and IP address. If you make this server public, people will be able to DDOS you as well as find out where you live using your IP address. Thus, if you want a server that is public and not hosted on your computer, you will need a server host like Apex Minecraft Hosting, linked above. You and set up a 1.14.2 Minecraft server in just a few clicks with Apex!
Nevertheless, if you are just making a server for your friends and family, let's go ahead and get one set up! First and foremost, we need to download the Minecraft server file for 1.14.2. You can find the Minecraft 1.14.2 server file linked above on Mojang's official website. Once you are there, you can see the 'download minecraft_server_1.14.2.jar' text. Click that to start the download.
Once your server.jar is downloaded, we need to set it up. In order to do this, create a folder. You can title this folder 'Minecraft 1.14.2 Server'. Drag and drop the .jar into the folder. Then, create a new text document and copy the code from the description above and paste in this document. Then, click file, save as, and title this file 'run.bat'. After that, make sure you select 'all files' and 'Save as type'.
Now, double click the 'run.bat' file. Minecraft 1.14.2 will now make a server, but it will fail. This is because we need to agree to the Minecraft EULA. To do this, open the EULA.text file, go to the website there, and if you agree with it, change 'EULA=false' to 'EULA=true'. Save this file, and then double click the 'run.bat' file again. Your Minecraft 1.14.2 server will now start!
At this point, you can join your server, but your friends can't. In order to do that, you will need to port forward your Minecraft 1.14.2 server. This is actually very easy process. The port you need to forward is 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocol. You will need to login to your router, and we show you how to get your password. After you have port forwarded, you will need to get your public IP address from the link the description above. This is the IP you will use to join your 1.14.2 server. It will also be used by your friends to join your server! At this point, you now know how to make a Minecraft 1.14.2 server. Congratulations!
